TRIUMPH SUPPORTS TEACH FOR AMERICA-MEMPHIS, TO HELP IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN LOW INCOME AREAS

Triumph Bank recently made the worthwhile decision to support Teach For America-Memphis (TFA). This included sponsoring a teacher, which TFA trains, and Triumph Bancshares, Inc.'s donation which qualifies for a matching national grant. "We're very grateful to Triumph for helping us continue in our effort to expand educational opportunity," said Jenny Lawing, local TFA Development Associate, shown with Triumph President, Will Chase.

TFA-Memphis is one of more than 40 TFA offices from coast to coast, involving recent college graduates who commit to teach in Memphis and become lifelong leaders. According to teachforamerica.org, only 1 in 10 students growing up in poverty will graduate from college. Across the U.S., TFA recruits diverse leaders to "expand educational opportunity, starting by teaching for two years in a low-income community." Known as "corps members," new teachers receive substantial training and support throughout their two years. This is made possible through donations from local businesses and individuals, something Will Chase said Triumph was more than eager to do. "We're excited the matching grant will increase the resources available to the Memphis TFA office, and the opportunities this and the teacher sponsorship will afford our children."
